[소렌토, Sorrento] 돌아오라 소렌토로 – Come back to Sorrento

나 : 그러니까 포시타노로 가려면 여기서 갈아타야 되는데 한 시간 반 뒤에 버스가 있대. 그 동안 느긋하게 소렌토나 둘러보자.
R : 버스 어디서 타는지는 알아?
나 : 찾아봐야지.

그리하여 우리는 포시타노로 가기 위해, 오로지 그것 때문에 소렌토에 들렀다. 버스 정류장을 찾긴 찾아야 되는데 그건 잘 못 찾겠고 근사한 노천 카페들만 눈에 들어왔다. 기왕 왔으니 소렌토에서 점심이나 먹고 가지.

R : 이탈리아 와서 이렇게 맛있는 카푸치노는 처음 먹어봐.
나 : 당연하지. 지금 처음 먹는 거잖아.

근데 이 동네 사람들은 이런 약사발같은 무지막지한 컵으로 커피를 마신다. 아니, 마신다기보다 들이킨다고 표현하는 게 옳겠다.

얼른 버스 정류장을 찾아서 포시타노로 떠나야 하는데, 소렌토라는 이 도시도 정말 눈부실 정도로 예쁘다. 빨간 지붕의 아담한 집들, 거리마다 장식된 크리스마스 장식, 적당한 따뜻함과 맑은 하늘. 소렌토로 돌아오라는 말이 괜히 나온 말이 아닌 듯 싶다. 게다가,

R : 아니, 여긴 뭐지? 아이스크림 가게인데 무슨 줄이 이렇게 길어.
나 : 그런데는 다 이유가 있을 거야. 틀림없이 엄청나게 맛있는 아이스크림 가게일 거야.
R : 그럼 먹어야지?

웬 홀딱 벗은 글래머 여배우가 아이스크림 통에 몸을 담근 채 스포트 라이트를 받고 있는 장면을 TV를 통해 끊임없이 반복해서 보여주고 있는 아이스크림 가게에서 우리는 3유로짜리 아이스크림 콘을 샀다. 그리고 말이 필요 없다. 진짜 맛있다. 정말로 눈물이 날 정도로 감동적인 최고의 아이스크림이었다.

나 : 아이스크림도 맛있는데 그냥, 포시타노 가지 말고 소렌토나 더 구경하는 게 어때?
R : 짜식, 어떻게 나랑 같은 생각을.

그리하여, 포시타노로 가는 것은 포기하고 깎아내린 소렌토의 해안 절벽 도로를 따라 걷기 시작했다.

R : 이야, 근데 여기 해안가에 무슨 호텔들이 이렇게 많아? 틀림없이 굉장히 비싸겠지?
나 : 그렇겠지. 전부 별이 서너개씩 붙었네.
R : 그렇지만 틀림없이 그만한 값을 할테지.
나 : 좋아. 나중에 부자가 되면 소렌토에 다시 와서 꼭 이런 곳에서 묵겠어.
R : 난 여기 호텔 다 사버려야지.

언제 이루어질 지도 모를 헛된 꿈을 꾸면서도 끝없이 이어진 소렌토의 해안 도로를 걷는 일은 정말 환상적인 일이었다. 아말피 해안가의 포시타노가 얼마나 근사한지는 모르겠지만 소렌토도 정말 아름답기 그지없었다.

해가 다 지도록 걷고 또 걸었다. 때로는 바다 가까운 곳으로 내려가 보기도 하고, 때로는 전망 좋은 절벽 끝까지 가 보기도 하면서. 비록 저무는 태양을 두 눈으로 확인하지는 못했지만 노을진 석양과 바다, 절벽과 바닷배가 어우러진 환상적인 풍경을 감상할 수 있었다.

이윽고 밤이 찾아왔다. 그러나 소렌토의 활기찬 분위기는 이제 시작이었다. 한적했던 소렌토 시내는 밤이 깊어가면서 점점 분위기가 무르익어 갔다. 나폴리로 되돌아가야 하는 때가 가까워 오면 올 수록 아쉬움은 커져만 갔다.

나 : 그러니까 아까 먹었던 그 세상에서 가장 맛있는 아이스크림을 또 먹어야 하지 않겠어?
R : 그래, 저녁 따위는 먹지 않아도 좋아. 그 아이스크림이 최고야.

소렌토. 언젠가 꼭 이 곳에 다시 돌아오겠노라고 다짐했다. Torna a Surriento._M#]

I : To go to Positano, we have to transfer here after 1 hour and half. So, let’s go around Sorrento slowly.
R : But do you know where the bus stop is?
I : We have to look for it.

Therefore we stopped at Sorrento only to go to Positano. We had to find bus stop but it was hard and we could find the nice open air restaurants only. Anyway, we are in Sorrento, so let’s have a lunch here.

R : Oh! This is the most delicious cappuccino I have ever eaten in Italia!!
I : It is natural. Because it is the first one.

By the way, people here drink coffee with cup looks like a bowl. It is rather pouring than drinking.

Anyway, although we had to leave here and go to Positano in a hurry, Sorrento itself is also really beautiful. Houses with red rooves, Christmas decorations on the street, nice temperature and clear sky. There should be a reason why people say to come back to Sorrento. Moreover,

R : Oh, what’s this? Why there is so long queue in small ice cream shop?
I : There should be a reason. It might be really nice ice cream shop.
R : Then we have to eat it!!

We bought an ice cream of 3 euros in that shop which shows a scene of naked glamourous actress is put herself in a ice cream bathtub on TV. And the taste was……. undescribable. Really delicious. We were almost crying, so moved. It was the best ice cream in the world.

I : Oh, ice cream is really nice. How about travelling here more instead of going to Positano?
R : Hehe, the same with you.

So, we gave up going to Positano, we walk along the steep cliff road in Sorrento.

R : Wow, So many hotels along the coast. They should be really expensive, isn’t they?
I : Sure. All of them have 3 or 4 stars.
R : But they might be deserved to get so.
I : OK. In the future and I’ll be a rich and come back Sorrento again and stay there.
R : I’ll buy all of the hotels here!!

Although it was unbelievable dreams, anyway, walking along the coast in Sorrento was really fantastic. I don’t know how nice Positano in Amalfi Coast, Sorrento was also really wonderful city.

We walked and walked until the sun sets. Sometimes went to near the coast, sometimes went to the top of the cliff, though we couldn’t see the sun set with our eyes, we could enjoy the fantastic scene that the yellow colored sky and sea, cliff and boats are mixed up.

And it comes the night. But the alive atmosphere in Sorrento was begun from the night. The city area in Sorrento which were so calm began to be alive. We were missing Sorrento more as the time comes to go back to Napoli.

I : Therefore, shouldn’t we have the best ice cream in the world again?
R : Of course. Dinner is not necessary. That ice cream is the best.
