세계에서 가장 유명한 여행 가이드북, 론리 플래닛께서 가라사대, 나폴리에 가면 세상에서 가장 훌륭한 피자집이 있다고 했다. 피자는 내가 이탈리아에 온 중요한 이유 중 하나이건대, 안 가 볼 수가 없다. 그래서 갔다.
절대 넓지 않은 허름한 피자집은 어찌나 바쁜지 주문하려고 종업원을 기다리는 데만 이십 분이 걸렸다. 메뉴는 마르게리따와 마리나라 단 두가지 뿐이었고 우리는 마르게리따에 모짜렐라 치즈를 추가로 주문했다.
피자의 여왕 마르게리따 피자의 핵심은 간결함에 있다. 토마토 소스와 모짜렐라 치즈, 올리브 기름만으로 피자를 만든다.
나 : 역시 세계 최고의 피자는 달라. 정말 맛있지 않냐?
R : 음, 맛있긴 한데, 내 생각엔 역시 중국 음식이 세계 최고인 것 같아.
중국 음식이 세계 최고라는 생각에는 동의할 수 없지만 솔직히 세계 최고의 피자인 줄은 모르겠더라. 난 아직까지 웁살라에 있는 릴라 후셋 피자가 세계 최고라고 생각한다. 어쨌거나 그렇게 세계 최고라는 피자집에 살짝 실망하고 피자값을 치르고 나가려고 하는데 카운터 옆에서 종업원이 매서운 눈초리로 우리를 노려보고 있었다. 팁 잘 안 주기로 유명한 동양인들 왔으니 팁 주나 안 주나 감시하는 거겠지. 이 피자집에 대해 남은 마지막 최소한의 애정조차 싹 사라지게 만드는 눈빛이었다._M#]

The most famous guide book in the world – Lonely Planet – said, there is the most delicious pizza restaurant in the world in Napoli. Pizza was one of the reason why I came Italia. So I must go there. So we went there.
The small humble restaurant was too busy to meet waiter. We waited for 20 minutes to meet waiter. There were only Margherita and Marinara in menu and we ordered Margherita with double Mozzarella cheese.
The core point of Margherita pizza which is called as the ‘queen of the pizza’ is conciseness. It is made up of tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and olive oil only.
I : Oh! Surely the best pizza in the world is different. Isn’t it really delicious?
R : Hmm… It is tasty, but I still think that Chinese food is the world best.
Though I cannot agree that Chinese food is the world best, frankly speaking, I also cannot agree with that it is the best pizza in the world. I still think that the pizza in Lilla Huset in Uppsala is the world best. Anyway when we leave that restaurant with disappointment, one waiter beside the counter glared at us with angry face. Probably he is worried about not giving him a tip because we are asian who are famous for not giving tips. It was the gesture which extinguishes the rest remained tendor feeling for this restaurant._M#]
