야간 열차를 타고 씻지도 못한 채 좀 돌아다니다 보니 아주 땟국물이 줄줄 흐른다. 갈아입을 옷도 없고 허허허.
R : 근데 로미오와 줄리엣이 진짜 이런 데 살았을까?
그랬다. 안개 때문에 베로나도 죽음의 도시로 변해 있었다. 이미 시간이 늦어서 숙소를 찾아 좀 돌아다녔는데 그런 와중에 우리가 본 것이라고는 고작 회색 아파트 촌과 방송탑, 공장 굴뚝 따위의 것들이었다. 그도 그럴 것이, 우리가 찾아 본 숙소들은 죄다 도시 반대 방향에 있었거든.
나 : 아, 도저히 안되겠다. 여긴 포기하고, 그냥 베네치아나 가자.
그림자가 드리웠던 R의 얼굴에 그제서야 환한 미소가 밝아오기 시작했다.
덧. 나중에 듣자하니 베로나가 그렇게 예쁜 도시라는데 어째 우리는 공장 굴뚝 같은 거나 봤을까-_-;;_M#]

That’s right. Verona became the city of death because of the thick fog. We looked for a hotel because it was too late, while doing so, the only thing we saw were gray apartment village, broadcasting tower, chimney of a factory. That was natural because all of our candidate hotels were located in the opposite side of the city.
I : Oh, let’s give up. Let’s go to Venezia instead.
The face of R which was really dark before became bright after that.
P.S. Many people says Verona is really beautiful city, but why did we see the ugly things only, like chimney of a factory?_M#]
