[보베, Beauvais] 마지막까지 쌩고생 – Suffering till the end.

싸구려 항공사를 선택한 것이 화근이었다. 보베 공항은 파리에서 80km 정도 떨어져 있는데 사실상 그냥 다른 도시라고 보는 게 맞다. 공항까지 바로 가는 버스가 있다는데 나는 여행 중에 인터넷 검색을 잘 안 하니까 그냥 기차역에 가서 보베시까지 가는 기차표를 끊었다. 그리하여 보베 역에 도착했더니……

아우, 자그마치 공항까지 6km. 원래 역에서 공항까지 셔틀이 있다는데 하루에 네 대인가 있어서 다음 셔틀 시각은 너무 늦고, 택시를 타자니 좀 돈이 아깝고 하던 차에……

R : 걸어가지?

하여 공항까지 걸어가게 되었다. 불행 중 다행인 것은 아무도 모르는 이 조그마한 도시에도 꽤 볼거릴가 있다는 것이었는데, 예를 들자면,

세계에서 가장 높다고 보베시 관광 책자에 쓰여 있는 보베 대성당인데, 지금 검색해 보니 그런 말이 없네. 프랑스에 까지 와서 낚였네.

도시 자체의 아담한 아름다움에서 의미를 찾으려고 애썼지만 사실 공항까지 가는 길에는 아무것도 없었다. 그냥 끝없는 잔디밭과 주유소와 도로와 흐린 날씨와……..

공항에 와서 체크인을 할 때는 더욱 황당한 일을 당했다.

나 : 이 가방을 짐으로 부치고 싶은데요.
직원 : 음, 그럼 저기 가셔서 10유로를 결제하고 오세요. 영수증을 가져오시면 탑승권을 드리죠.

하여 10유로를 내러 갔는데, 현금이 없어서 카드로 결제하려고 하니 비자 카드만 받는다고 한다. 카드가 없으니까 되돌아가서 R에게서 10유로를 받아서 내밀었더니 하는 소리가,

직원 : 현찰은 안 받아요. 오로지 비자 카드만 받습니다.

이런 망할. 다시 되돌아가서 비자 일렉트론이 찍힌 직불 카드를 R에게서 빌려서 결제하려는데 역시나 안된다. 어쩔 수 없으니 카운터로 되돌아가서 그냥 짐 안 부치는 걸로 해 달라고 하니,

직원 : 이미 짐이 들어가서 안됩니다.
나 : 그럼 어떡하죠? 저기서 현찰도 안 받는데요?
직원 : 글쎄요…….

아, 정말 난감하더라. 결국은,

나 : 저기요….. 여기서 현찰을 안 받아서 그러는데 비자 카드로 결제 좀 해 주시면 안될까요?
영국인 : 예? 현찰을 안 받는다고요?

그 사람도 황당했겠지. 아무튼 친절한 그 영국 아저씨의 도움으로 현찰깡으로 10유로를 겨우 결제할 수 있었다. 그리고 우리가 탄 비행기는 공항 사정으로 2시간이나 연착한 끝에 스톡홀름 스카브스타 공항에 겨우 도착하였다. 이걸로 길었던 보름간의 유럽 고행도 끝……. 이라고 생각했는데……

R : 우리 자전거 어디갔지?

젠장, 여행 간 사이에 자전거 주차장 공사한다고 자전거를 싹 수거해 갔다. 이뭐병. 그거 찾느라고 또 한 시간 헤맸네. 이래저래 힘들었던 여행이었다. 휴……

It was the reason to have chosen the cheap-price airline. Beavais-Paris Airport is located 80 km outside of Paris. It is said that there is a shuttle bus from Paris to airport, but we chose train because I don’t like to surf the internet during travel. When we arrived at Beauvais train station……

Wow, It is 6 km from station to airport. There is a shuttle bus from station to airport but only 4 times a day, it is expensive if we take a taxi……

R : Walk?

So we were to walk to airport. It was comforting that there were something to see in that small city, for example……

Beauvais Cathedral, which is said that the highst church in the world….. in the guide book of Beauvais city, but I cannot find that fact via the web. Shit, we were deceived!!

We tried to find out the meaning through the beauty of the city itself but in fact, there were nothing. Just endless grass, gas stations, road, bad weather……

And we experienced worse situation when we checked in at the airport.

I : I want to check in this lugguage.
Agent : Then you have to pay 10 euros there. When you come here with a receipt, I’ll give you a boarding pass.

So I went to pay 10 euro, and I didn’t have any cash, so I tried to pay with card, but they took only VISA. And I didn’t have VISA card, so I came back to R and took a 10 euros cash and gave it to the agent,

Agent : We don’t take cash, only VISA.

What a shit!! So I came back and borrows VISA electron card from R, and tried to pay but it didn’t work. So I came back to counter and told the agent not to check in my lugguage,

Agent : No I can’t. The lugguage is already in the plane.
I : Then how can I do? They don’t take cash!!
Agent : Well……

Oh, Jesus….. Finally,

I : Excuse me, can you pay for me with your VISA card? They don’t take cash……
English man : What? They don’t take cash?

He might be very surprised. Anyway we could pay with his kindness. And the plane delayed for 2 hours and arrived at Skavsta-Stockhold airport. Now the 15 days hard-travelling in Europe is over…….

R : Where are our bicycles?

Shit! The government collected all of the bicycles parked in front of the station. We spent 1 hour more to find them. Hu…. So hard-working travel……
