[Uppsala] Hej, hej~!

과연 듣던 대로 여기 사람들은 모르는 사람을 봐도 그냥 인사하는 게 버릇이 되어 있나 보다. 지난 번 빨래터에서 뒤통수에 대고 “헤이헤이?” 거리던 왠 스웨덴 아낙네도 그렇거니와, 뻔히 전화 통화를 하며 걸어가면서도 나를 슥 보더니 “헤이?”라고 말함과 동시에 전화 통화를 계속하던 아가씨도 그렇다. 얼마 전에는 방 문을 열고 나서는데 어떤 남녀 한 쌍이 현관으로 들어오면서 번갈아 나보고 인사하기도 했다.

솔직히 처음에는 진짜 좀 당황스러웠다. 아 당연히 생면부지의 사람인데 모른 체 지나가 주는 게 한국에서는 정석이지. 그래서 깜짝깜짝 놀랐다.

그러나 타지에 가면 그 곳 법을 따르는 것이 예의, 덧붙여 우리의 썩소를 만방에 전파하기 위해 나도 용기를 냈다. 오늘 아침 빨래터에 갔더니 두건을 뒤집어 쓴, 이란이나 터키 쪽 사람으로 보이는 아가씨가 빨래를 집어 넣고 나오길래 당길 수 있는 안면 근육은 죄다 최대한 당겨서 내 진심을 담아 싱긋 웃으며 “헤이?”하며 인사했다. 그랬더니 그 부리부리한 눈매로 나를 의심스럽게 째려보고 그냥 지나간다. OTL…… 두고보자.

As I heard before, people here easily say “Hej(hello)” to me even if s/he don’t know me. One day, a Swedish girl said like that in the back of me and another day, one girl said to me “Hej!” and continued her calling. And another day, a couple of foreigners both said “hej” to me. For sure, I don’t know them all.

Franckly speaking, it was very surprised at the first time. In Korea, pretending not to see me is a standard behavior, so I was very surprised actually.

But if I’m in Sweden, I have to follow their rule. And to show them our “ruined smile”, I made my mind. Today morning, I saw a girl looks like from Turkey or Iran in the laundry room, and I smiled to her as big as possible, “Hej~!”. Then she saw me with a big eye strangely, and just passed away without any words. OTL…. See you later!!
